October

23rd September - 1st October


Richmond Walking & Book Festival

The Festival is centred on the lively and picturesque market town of Richmond which boasts everything you need to ensure a wonderful day or longer stay, whether a solo traveller or a group of friends.  Our walks programme offers at least 4 walks to choose from each day and features the route of the Swaledale Marathon; you can enjoy some of Swaledale's finest scenery at a more sedate pace.  The book programme features famous authors and a popular book fair held in Richmond's beautiful station.

23rd September - 8th October


Guernsey Autumn Walking Festival
The Guernsey Autumn Walking Festival offers visitors a choice of over 50 morning, afternoon and evening guided walks to explore the islands and learn from local experts about their history and attractions. Prices start from £7 per person per walk. The walks vary in difficulty and length (ranging from one to six hours) and are suitable for all ages and abilities.

Haslemere Walking Festival

Haslemere's third walking festival offers a collection of varied and rewarding walks to suit all tastes, ages and abilities, with opportunities to learn about Haslemere’s fascinating history, it’s wildlife and much more while at the same time enjoy some charming walking areas both within Haslemere and the beautiful surrounding countryside.

29th September - 28th October


South Lincolnshire Walking Festival

From the Lincoln Edge in the west to the Fenlands of the east South Lincolnshire has an extremely varied landscape that has witnessed Bronze Age burials, Iron Age mints, roman forts, the Knights Templar, castles and abbeys. But the festival isn’t only for history lovers! Whether you want to roam with Ramblers, have an adventure with your kids, get snapping on a photography foray or take you pooch out for a guided ‘walkies’, there’s something for everyone. The walks will take place on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays so that those who work or want to involve the family don’t miss out.

1st - 31st October


Norfolk Walking Festival

Showcasing the beautiful north east stretch of the Norfolk Coast, with a range of guided walks, themed walks including family and nature, and other related events.

4th - 7th October


Dursley Walking Festival

Varied programme of 20+ short and longer walks including special interest walks e.g. photography and local history.  Social events where non-walkers are welcome e.g. a quiz, a local historical talk and a tea and cakes afternoon. Full programme will be available on the website in August

5th- 7th October


South West Outdoor Festival
The South West Outdoor Festival returns for 2018 with tons to do whether you’re camping or here for a day, festival entry includes all sorts of guided adventures, interactive learning experiences and entertainment (speakers, films and live music)

6th - 13th October


Crieff and Strathearn Drovers’ Tryst


Enjoy beautiful Perthshire acros the duration of this wonderful 8 day festival, with 32 walks available at all levels of difficulty (extra hard to easy).  Each walk is restricted to small groups - typically around 12 people - allowing fantastic connections to the local knowledgeable expert volunteers who led the walks.  There's also many interest walks, led by the likes of bee keepers, archaeologists, naturalists and a shepherdess.


On the evenings, there's a full social programme, including films/ceilidh/talks/whisky tasting.  And if you fancy something different to walking, there's a Hairy Coo mountain biking day for all levels on Sunday 14th October and family friendly bike rides along the byways of the Earn Valley.

It's all in the beautiful historic scenery of Perthshire, celebrating the lives of the cattle drovers of yore.

6th - 15th October


Cowalfest2018 Walking and Arts Festival
Cowalfest offers a 10 day festival during October. This annual Walking and Outdoors Festival is one of the largest and most varied walking festivals in Scotland, with more than 60 walks led by expert and knowledgeable walk leaders.

7th - 15th October


Haltwhistle Walking Festival
The autumn Festival offers 19 walks to choose from over 9 days.

11h - 15th October


The Rotherham and Dearne Valley Walking Festival
Join us for the Rotherham and Dearne Valley Walking Festival, showcase lovely walking areas in South Yorkshire with a total of 8 walks - split between short walks of around 4-6 miles and longer walks of around 8-10miles.

14th - 29th October


The New Forest Walking Festival
The 2017 Festival saw 1,500 people enjoy 75 behind the scenes family strolls, history hikes, wildlife walks and more. All walks were expert-led by the New Forest National Park Authority and partner organisations, helping people learn more about the National Park.

21st - 29th October


Manchester Autumn Walking Week
Over 100 free guided walks around Manchester, with walks suitable for all ages and abilities. Also includes some skills workshops.


November

4th- 5th November


Snowdonia Walking Festival
A selection of walks over this early winter weekend.


December

23rd December 2018 - 6th January 2019


Ramblers Festival of Winter Walks
Hundreds of walks take place around the country during the festival. All are free, fun and open to anyone and everyone from toddlers to grandparents. Chosen and led by Ramblers volunteers, the walks will showcase Britain at its wintry best. Many of the walks are short and family-friendly, although there are always plenty of yomps for the seasoned hiker too.
